Coast to coast on July 1st we will be celebrating Canada’s birthday. Is this the part where we get all sappy about the country we live in? Where we talk about how great it is, and how lucky we are? Perhaps. But, we feel that the most exciting thing about Canada Day are all the festivities that come with it. Just think, that in 2 years from now our country will be 150!
Choose to do your own, or watch them in various areas of the GTA. Fireworks will be everywhere! This includes Mel Lastman Square, the infamous Ashbridges Bay, Downsview Park, Canada’s Wonderland, and in other well-known parks in Brampton, Newmarket, Scarborough, Maple, Mississauga, etc. Take your pick!
There will also be an abundance of free performances this Canada day! Mackenzie Glen in Maple will have Lights as a performer for their Canada Day festivities and if you happen to be in the country’s capital, you will catch Magic!. Also on the agenda for Toronto is a circus, face painters and musicians in Mel Lastman Square. All of the events taking place are family oriented.
So, although Canada Day does not directly follow the weekend this year, there will still be a lot of FREE family fun across the country. We’ve just listed a few places close by! There’s a lot to be excited about as we continue to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup, as we celebrate Pride in Toronto this weekend for the LGBTQ community, and continue to host amazing music festivals across the country. We are known to be the most diverse country in the world, and we can even check hosting the PanAm games off of our bucket list. Those begin in less than 2 weeks!
GO CANADA GO!!
